Lot

Genesis 19:16 KJV 1900
And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
have you ever wondered why the spider never seems to gets caught or trapped in it’s own web? or have you ever walked into an unseen web, one of the first things you notice is how sticky the web is; but now you can imagine how the insect victim feels when it is trapped.

so the question comes to the inquiring mind. how is it possible that the only the victim gets entangled in this sticky web, and not the spider? the reason is the spider who is the spinner of the web is careful where it steps and does not become entangle in it’s own web.
Gideon; Israel in the time of Elijah; Jeremiah

so how is this illustration applicable to the Christians’ journey? well, if the truth be told this life of ours is full of toil and sneers, and you need to know that the wants to entrap you, entangle you in one of the many nets that he uses stunt our growth in christ .

Caleb

every believer needs to watch where you are going, two, be-careful where you walk, not only being watchful, and careful where you walk, be careful who you are walking with.
in the text, This passage is the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry. In verses 14–15, he gives his message in a nutshell. the lord’s very first words was the kingdom of heaven is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. He then calls his very first disciples.
Numbers 13:30 KJV 1900
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. 18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

and straightway they forsook their nets, and followed Him.
The Message Chapter 1

They didn’t ask questions. They dropped their nets and followed.

The Message Chapter 1

They didn’t ask questions. They dropped their nets and followed.

and they left their nets and followed Him. that’s what i want to talk about this morning. don’t get caught in your own nets.

what does it mean to be caught in one’s own net. it means being trapped and entangled in the things or hang ups, drama, dilemmas and detours that life deals to all of us. things that we can’t seem to let go and things that hold us back from being true disciples of Christ. listen, life is too short for you to be worried about trying to straighten out somebody else arrow especially when my own arrow is bent.
may I give you so advice, just drop your suggestion in the suggestion box and keep it moving. i love that food lion commercial where the lion says “ that’s my 2 cent worth.”
think about it; a lot of us are caught in our own nets because we can’t let go of our pass, our pass hurts, our pass distractions, pass appointments, pass relationships. the pass and present sneers that keep us from changing our story. some people are not able to fully commit to Jesus because they are trapped in their own nets, unable to change your behavior, unable to attitude or your outlook.
some are so caught up in our nets and the events around us, so caught up in the identity we have had for so long that it clings to us like our skin and you/we are unable to change their story.
we all write our own stories and each day we add another chapter, but because of the nets we find our selves caught in, we are unable to change the story of who we are. but you what, you have not put an end to your story, and your story has not ended yet.

when we think of the word “net” some of things that come to are thing like entangle, trap, caught.

I the Lord have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord God.

2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
